Special educational needs at school

All schools have a responsibility to identify children who have special educational needs (SEN) and provide them with the extra support they need.

If you want to talk to someone about getting extra help for your child, you should firstly speak to the class teacher. More information about who you can speak to is on our page on SEN help for parents and carers.

Support is available both at primary and secondary level and will vary depending on your child’s needs. It is carefully planned to make full use of a school’s resources so that your child develops to their full potential.
