COPES – help for parents in rural East Sussex

If you're going through a difficult time bringing up your children, aged 5-13 years old, COPES, a local charity project, can help.

COPES is short for the 'Children's Outreach and Parents Extended Support service'. It covers many market towns and rural locations in East Sussex, including the most isolated ones, and can come to you where you live.

“We're here to help before problems get too big.”
Dave Ely, COPES

When a child's behaviour is becoming disruptive, embarrassing and even dangerous, parents can feel isolated, frustrated and miserable. COPES can help with problems around behaviour at home or at school, difficulties between brothers and sisters, or with developing a new relationship with another adult in the family – allowing you to sort out problems before they become too disruptive, and finding ways to stop problems developing in the future.

COPES works with schools and other children's services, to work directly with parents and children in their homes and schools to help them sort things out. Sometimes this means mediating between parents, children and their class teacher.
