Lansdowne secure children's home accommodates five young people of either sex between the ages of 10 and 17. They are admitted according to rules laid down by law.
I didn't see Lansdowne as a secure unit; I saw it as my family. There should be more places like Lansdowne so they can help more children in need of help and care. I would like to say thank you to Lansdowne and I will never forget what they have helped me to achieve.

The young people who are admitted may be in danger of getting in trouble with the police, or harming themselves or others. In each case they have been placed in secure accommodation for their own protection or for the protection of others in the community.
The home is small, homely and non-smoking. The aim of the home is to meet the psychological, social, emotional, health and educational needs of each young person within a safe, controlled and caring environment.
The young people take part in individual and group work designed to help them understand their situation and develop better coping skills. This will help them lead a more socially acceptable lifestyle when they go back into the community.
